Frank F. Kowski Memorial Golf Tournament
Frank F. Kowski served in the National Park Service from 1937 until his
retirement in 1974. He was a longtime director of the Albright Training
Center, and later, the director of the Southwest Region. Frank loved golf,
and after his untimely passing in 1975, his friends organized this golf
tournament in his memory. It has been played annually ever since on a date
as close to August 25th Founders Day as is practicable.
The proceeds from the tournament benefit the
George B. Hartzog, Jr. Education Loan Program. Over the years,
the George B. Hartzog, Jr. Education Loan Program has assisted over 350 E&AA
members to finance higher education for their dependants. Currently, the
E&AA Trust Fund has approximately 150 active member loans outstanding. Over
the last 10 years, Kowski Tournaments have contributed in excess of $50,000
to the educational assistance program.
